2,638 bills were filed at the 2026 session of the Maryland Legislature as of March 5.  A number of those bills related directly to and affected CCRC residents as well as all older adults in Maryland.  MaCCRA offered written testimony to some 15 bills, some of which were those cross-filed in both the House and the Senate.

MaCCRA’s primary focus is on SB 0488/HB 0424, Continuing Care in a Retirement Community — Providers – Governing Bodies – Membership (Sue Hecht Continuing Care Retirement Communities Transparency Act).  In-person testimony was also given by MaCCRA at the hearings on these bills.
