On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, the Oak Crest Chapter of MaCCRA is sponsoring a timely talk by Barbara Brocato, the legislative consultant who represents MaCCRA interests in the Maryland state legislature. She will speak about “The Importance and Power of Every Resident’s Voice and the Changing Health Care Environment”. This is part of MaCCRA’s ongoing work to help residents keep abreast of laws and regulations that impact the life, welfare, and health of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) in the state.
The talk will be held on the Oak Crest Campus (8800 Walther Blvd, Parkville, MD 21234) in Erickson Hall on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. All MaCCRA members, and all residents of Maryland CCRCs, are cordially invited. There is no charge for admission. A question period will follow the talk. Ms. Brocato is founder and president of the consulting firm Barbara Marx Brocato and Associates, based in Annapolis.
Semi-Annual Meeting on December 2, 2017
The Semi-Annual meeting of MaCCRA will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017, from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Oak Crest.
The agenda will include approval of June 3, 2017, Annual Meeting minutes, Treasurer’s report, Legislative Report, Federal Report, Webmaster’s Report and a report from Barbara Brocato, MaCCRA legislative liaison.
We are pleased to announce that Senator Ben Cardin will also speak. The format for Senator Cardin will be to answer questions from MaCCRA members regarding current issues of the committees on which he serves.
First elected to the Senate in 2006, Senator Cardin currently serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He is a senior member of the Environment & Public Works Committee (EPW) and Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee. He also serves on the Senate Finance Committee (SFC). Senator Cardin is a leading advocate for the Chesapeake Bay, which is the economic, historical and cultural heart of Maryland. He is the youngest member to have served as a Maryland legislator.
Please send your questions now to MaCCRA Vice President Michael Kelly at mjk.balt [at] gmail.com. Michael will review the questions for duplication and format them for Senator Cardin’s presentation and discussion.
Details regarding directions, parking and cost of this meeting will be forthcoming.
